Portsmouth Community Groups Invited to Apply for £1,000 Inclusion Grants

Money is available to support projects and groups who celebrate diversity and help make Portsmouth an inclusive city.

Portsmouth City Council has again launched its Community Inclusion Grant scheme. Voluntary and community groups in Portsmouth can apply for up to £1,000 funding towards initiatives that support disadvantaged or underrepresented groups, are accessible and provide welcoming opportunities to a wide audience.

Suitable projects could be about:

  • making facilities more accessible

  • new equipment to run classes

  • attracting a wider group of people

  • highlighting unique aspects of a group or community

  • providing support to disadvantaged groups of people.

Cllr Chris Attwell, Cabinet Member for Central Services, said:

"Last year's scheme was a big success. Among the many groups who successfully applied for previous grants were those delivering initiatives that celebrate our city's different cultures and ethnic diversity, support veterans, the elderly and people with disabilities, recognise differences in gender and gender identity and projects focused on mental health and wellbeing.

"If you are part of a group running a project that gets people together, champions and supports different communities and improves the lives of Portsmouth residents, we really want you to apply."

The grant scheme is open now for applications and closes on Monday 30 November.

The easiest way to apply is online, where people can also find more information: https://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/services/council-and-democracy/equality-diversity-inclusion/community-inclusion-grant
