Residents in and around Paulsgrove are invited to discover greener, healthier ways to travel this summer as Portsmouth City Council brings its popular Get Active event to Paulsgrove Park.
Taking place on Friday 7 August from 12pm to 3pm, the free community event will offer a fun-filled afternoon of activities designed to help people of all ages get moving, enjoy the outdoors and explore their local area by walking, wheeling or cycling.
Get Active is returning exclusively for residents in north Portsmouth, with this year's event taking place in Paulsgrove Park, near the playground, skatepark and basketball court. The family-friendly event will showcase the many benefits of active travel while providing a great day out for local people during the summer holidays.
Alongside the popular cycling lessons, which have helped hundreds of children gain confidence on two wheels since the event launched in 2022, young people can also try BMX skills sessions and improve their bike-handling techniques through expert coaching in a safe and supportive environment.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of free activities, including:
A cycling obstacle course
Free Bike Doctor safety checks
Free bike security marking
Free cycle lessons for all ages and abilities
Children's face painting
Inflatable slide
To help even more people start cycling, Portsmouth City Council is once again partnering with Portsmouth Cycle Exchange to offer discounts of up to 50% off used bikes (maximum discount Β£50). Visitors can also enter a prize draw for the chance to win a brand-new bike, helmet and lock.

We hope the event inspires more people to get outdoors, leave the car at home when possible and enjoy the benefits of walking, wheeling and cycling."
The event takes place in Paulsgrove Park, near the playground, skatepark and basketball court. No booking is required and everyone is welcome to attend.
